Abdullah’s Lockerbie Manor Recount

My name is Abdullah Sher and I’m going to tell you about my trip to Lockerbie   Manor with my classmates and Ibrox Primary.

The first thing I noticed when we arrived there was that it was massive! It was surprised by how big it was.  The people that work there introduced themselves then we were shown to our rooms.  We had to share rooms; I was with Ali, Aman, Muzzammil, Bilal and Hamza.  We put our bags in the room and went out for the first activity.  My group’s first activity was climbing.  I volunteered to go first.  It was so scary because the climbing wall was exceedingly high, and the holds on the wall were very small.  I managed to climb to three holds from the top, and then my hands and legs slipped off so I had to come down.  I was disappointed, I was thinking “I just want to make it to the top”.

After climbing we had to go in for dinner. I had chicken nuggets with chips.  It was spectacular.  Later in the evening we went on the low ropes.  I found the low ropes easy, but others found it quite hard. I think it was easy for me because I do lots of sports, so I’m quite fit.

Finally we had to go to our rooms at 9.30pm and go to sleep by 10pm. However, we actually had a party in the room.  Ali had an enormous black bag that was full of sweets and he shared them with the rest of us.  We eventually fell asleep about 12.30pm.

I really enjoyed my trip to Lockerbie Manor, I will never forget the fun we had. Hopefully I will come back again one day with my family.

When we arrived at Lockerbie Manor we all clapped and cheered, we were so pleased to be there. Our first instructor was called Shaun.  He told us where the fire escapes were and then he told us to get ready.

We got ready and went to Shuan, who said, “we’re going to do rock climbing!” Then Yahya said, “I’m not doing that!” I think he was a bit scared. Then we got to the climbing wall and we climbed it, it was huge!  After that we did a couple of activities, including paddle boarding.  That was the one I hated because we needed to use our hands to paddle and the water was so cold.  It was like snow and ice!  It was hard to stay balanced on the board.

In our room at night I had a party with Aman, Muzzy, Bilal, Abdullah and Awais. We had lots of snacks and it was really fun.

On the last day we did archery. I got a bullseye!  I felt very proud of myself.  I enjoyed Lockerbie Manor so much I didn’t want to come home.  I would love to go again.

Lockerbie Manor – Jamil Ali

When we arrived to Lockerbie and the instructor said “Take a tour around Lockerbie Manor”.

Then, an instructor had given us an activity and our first activity was trust fall. It was really fun doing it. Then we did low ropes which was exciting. We were all laughing when we were doing it.

Next we did rock climbing which was not my favourite. I said to the instructor that “I can’t climb, I might hurt myself”. The instructor said “It is okay, you will be fine”. So then I got fine and climbed and I never got that far.

Then, on Saturday, we did kayaking and canoeing and the other one was like we had to stand up and do paddle boarding while standing up. It was hard but I never slipped.

In the evening, we went to a place where sheep and sheep poo was. We looked up at the stars and we saw the North Star. They were amazing because they were so bright and sparkly!

The next day was the final day. We did abseiling that day. It was really fun doing it, everybody was very nervous! I thought I was going to slip off.

Then me and my classmates went and packed our suitcases and went to the bus. The bus went to St. Albert’s and all of our parents were there. I told my dad and mum that I had so much fun and I said “It was brilliant!”
