Numeracy Home Learning Activities for P5, 6 and 7

If you have to be learning at home for any length of time, here are a number of options for you use to help you with your numeracy and maths learning.

Practice makes perfect

We all have Sumdog logins and you can use this to really brush up on your maths skills.  Practise the calculations you have been working on at school; try to learn a new times table; work on topics like shape and angles, if you have been doing them in school.

Mix and match

Corbett Maths Primary pages have good 5 a day challenges, and you can mark them as there are answers available too.  It is best to choose a day, start with bronze and then move on through the levels (silver, gold, platinum) to find the one which gives you a comfortable challenge.  Don’t worry if there are some topics you haven’t covered yet or can’t remember what to do –  you can move on past those.

Problem solving

One of the best things you can do for maths is problem solving.  The NRich website is fantastic for this.  It is packed full of problems and suggestions for where to get started, plus you can send your solutions in to the team and you might get your answer published on their website.  Start here and pick your first challenge: NRich.

If you are not sure where to start, there are games here: https://nrich.maths.org/9086
