Weekly Information 30th May

School closures

Just a reminder the school will be closed to pupils on Monday and Tuesday next week (2nd-3rd June)

Non uniform day

Thank you to everyone who was able to donate a coin for non-uniform day today, we managed to raise a fantastic £96 for the school fund.

Scarecrow Competition

Well done to P3 for finishing in 4th place in the Fife Show Scarecrow Competition!

P5 Instrumental Concert

Our P5 pupils will be attending a concert by the YMI instrumental instructors next week (Wednesday 4th June) at St Columba’s in Cupar. Please ensure your child has a packed lunch available on this date.

P7 Bake Sale

A reminder P7 pupils and parents will be hosting a bake sale next Friday after school – this will be held outside the front entrance (weather permitting!)

School Summer Fayre

Our summer fayre will take place between 11-1 on Saturday 7th June – many thanks to our parent council for all their hard work in organising this!

 

Weekly Information 26th May

Non-Uniform Day 

We will be holding a non-uniform day this Friday (30th May) as a fundraiser for the school. Your child can bring a coin with them to donate to the school fund should you wish.

Friday 30th May – Mrs Jess will be in school  to work  on tasks with Mrs Mitchell. 

P7 Bake Sale

There will be a bake sale hosted by Primary 7 pupils and parents outside the school on Friday 6th June, to raise funds for the P7 leavers party. The bake sale will run at the end of the school day, so pupils and parents can bring money for spending at that time.

Relationships, Sexual Health & Parenthood

Some of our classes will be exploring these topics in their classes over the remaining weeks of the summer term. This year’s topic theme is ‘Friendships’. The site is password protected, you can use the password WormitParents2025 to explore the resources which will be used.

Football Results

Huge congratulations to the Saturday Football team led by Gilbert and the coaching team for winning the Rotary Cup on Monday 19th May!

Well done to our girls football team who finished 3rd at the St Leonards girls football event on the 14th May!

We are also really proud to let you know a school team finished 3rd in the Russell Cup on the 9th May!

Both teams did an outstanding job representing their community at these events. Thank you again to all the supporters and staff who helped on both occasions.

Can all football kits borrowed for either event please be washed and returned to the school office as soon as possible.

Weekly Information 25th April

Open Afternoons

All of our classes are currently hard at work on our whole-school topic, which this year is ‘Design’. We would welcome all parents to come and take a look around the school at the displays of this work on the 14th and 15th May from 3.15-4pm.

 

Sponsored Run

This year’s sponsored run is now scheduled for Thursday 1st May!

Each class will be challenged to run, jog or walk for a set length of time, and we are aiming to raise money towards a fund to pay for a defibrillator to be housed at the school. If you would like to donate towards this you will see a fund in iPayimpact called ‘Defibrillator Donations’ and you could make contribution towards the fund there.

Parents are invited to spectate at these times:

P1&2 at 10am
P3-5 at 1.30pm
P6&7 at 2.15pm

Please remember your child will need a water bottle and any relevant medications (inhalers etc) should be up to date and stored in school/with your child as appropriate. Pupils can wear their PE kit/running clothing all day at school on the 1st.

 

P7 Photographs

A photographer from Tempest will be in school to take a picture of our Primary 7 class on 14th May. These will then be made available for order.

P6-7 Netball Club

A reminder our four-week netball club will run on Fridays from 2nd May. The sessions will take place in the hall between 3.05 and 4 and will be run by some senior pupils from Madras, with a member of staff present to supervise. If there is a week on which your child cannot attend please contact the school office as early as possible to let us know. You should have been contacted to confirm your child’s place at the club, please contact the office if you are unsure about this.

 

Running Club

Running Club will resume next week from Friday 2nd May at the usual times (3.05-4pm).

 

 

 

 

Weekly Information 4th April

Dear parent/carer,

We want to wish the whole school community a lovely Easter Holiday! Everyone has worked so hard this term and we are all looking forward to meeting again in two weeks after a well-earned break.

Church Service

Huge thanks to Colin and the team at the church for hosting us again today, and well done to all our readers, musicians and singers! It was great to see so much of our school community come together.

Parent Council Meeting

The date for the next parent council meeting is 22nd April at 5:30pm. All parents welcome!

Sponsored Run

This year we are holding our sponsored run on Thursday 1st May. We have decided to raise money towards buying and installing a defibrillator for the school building. Classes will be given a challenge to run, jug or walk non-stop for a set length of time. Parents are welcome to attend to watch the runs on Big Park through the day, we will confirm the timings for these after the holidays. If you would like to donate to the fund please log in to iPayimpact and look for the fund marked ‘Defibrillator Donations’.

P6-7 Football

Congratulations to our P6/7 football team who finished 3rd in the U12 football competition at St Leonards this week. Throughout the competition they set a brilliant standard of competitive spirit matched with great sportsmanship. Huge thanks to Ed and our parent volunteers who helped with transport for the event.

 

Weekly Information 28th March

P7/S1 Ceilidh
This will take place on Tuesday 1st April. Pupils will be driven to Madras by bus and returned to school before lunchtime. Please ensure pupils have suitable footwear for dancing in a PE hall.
P6/7 Football Tournament
This will take place on Wednesday 2nd April – your child will have been given school football kit today if they are taking part. We are aiming to arrive at St Leonards for 1pm, with a finish time predicted of 4pm. Please wash and return the football kit after the event and before the school holidays.
P5-7 Running Club
Please note there will be no P5-7 running club next Friday (4th April).
P1 Eye Tests
These will take place in school on Tuesday 1st April.
Church Service
This will be hosted at the church on Friday 4th April with a start time of around 9.30am. All parents, carers and families welcome!
Easter holidays
School will finish as usual at 3.05pm on Friday 4th April. We will return to school on Monday 21st April. Happy holidays to our whole school community!

Milk Fund Term 4 – Monday 21st April – Thursday 3rd July
The fund will open Friday 21st March  and close Thursday 3rd April at 9am.
Should you wish your child to have school milk next term (21st April 2025 – 3rd July 2025) please log into their Ipayimpact account to make the payment before this term ends. The fund will close on 3rd April at 9.00am
The cost for the term will be £16.25

Running Club Awards

We are very proud that our two amazing running club coaches, Roy and John, were nominated for an award at the EFSC Awards 2025 earlier this month. They have been supporting our running club come rain or shine for years and as a school we are very grateful for all their hard work!

Blast @ Madras
Blast @ Madras is 4 free fun transition events that NE Fife Youth Work team are organising at Madras. It’s open to any P7 & S1 attending Madras or catchment primary.
The 4 fun Friday nights are an opportunity to mix with peers, try different activities, build familiarisation of the building and make friends. They run on the last Friday of the Month in March, April, May & June.
There is also a free parent space with refreshments, activities and info sharing. An opportunity to chat with others parents/carers or chill while the young people are busy with activities.

Ardroy Trip

Good luck to all of our P7s who will be travelling Ardroy next week for the residential trip, a very exciting time! Thank you to the accompanying staff for volunteering to travel with the pupils.

Parent Council: World Book Day

Dear Parents,
Wormit Parent Council are currently organising a whole school book swap, which will take place in school on: World Book Day (Thursday 6th March 2025)
Please look out any children’s books you no longer need and send these into school over the next 2 weeks in time for World Book Day.  We would welcome donations of: – storybooks – board books – novels – non-fiction books.  A stall will be set up in the school hall on Thursday the 6th of March and each child will be given the opportunity to select a book to take home, with their class. Any left over books will be donated to the school library.

Active Schools Club @ Madras

I am delighted to inform you that Active Schools are offering children across P5-7 the opportunity to take part in an after school cluster football session. These sessions will be led by an Active Schools Volunteer. I have outlined the key details below:
 
When: Fridays (28th Feb to 21st March)
Where: Madras college – Astro 1 (Indoor in the event of bad weather)
Time: 4-5pm
