P3/4 28th April 2023

This week we have been learning about fractions of shapes and of amounts. We danced and sang along with a funny fractions song from BBC Bitesize!

We wrote a newspaper article about Miss Amy witnessing aliens landing in the playground!

We have been working on editing our writing using colour marking and reading it aloud to a partner to check for missing punctuation.

As part of our topic, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, we have been collecting used crisp packets at breaktimes and then turning them into bracelets! They look very cool and are helping the environment.

We have been learning about healthy foods and which foods give us more energy over a longer period of time. They are called slow-release carbohydrates. We made a healthy meal plan for a day with lots of slow-release carbohydrates and fruit and vegetables. We also included proteins and dairy products but not as much of those.

As part of the Get Active whole school topic we have been keeping an Activity Diary. We have increased our activity levels this week by doing a Trim Trail Challenge, Running a Mile and dancing!

In Art, we made an underwater scene using oil pastels and water colour paints. This was inspired by the books we read on plastics in the oceans being unsafe for the marine life.

We have also learnt about the reduced numbers of bees and how we help to increase their population. We planted wild flowers in the school garden.
