P1-3 Outdoor Learning

In P1-4 we regularly visit the woods during our outdoor learning sessions, and it is here that we take notice of the tiny changes that happen as the seasons pass.

Play is sometimes child led which allows for creativity and choice and gives the children the freedom to explore their interests, whether that’s den and shelter building , fairy homes and palaces or strategy games, including hide and seek.  Outdoor learning gives the children opportunities to problem solve, communicate, discuss, lead and cooperate. Personalities develop and learning through mistakes also occurs.

Having Cambo estate on our doorstep with its gardens, walks and established varieties of flora and fauna provides instant resources that enhance our learning.

The beach too gives us a different learning environment in which all kinds of activities can take place.

We appreciate the unique combination of resources that make our outdoor learning experiences often the highlight of the week.

Friday25th February:

In the woods today the P1-4 class did some rubbings as part of their art and design lesson.   There was a wee bit time left to play and do some den building too.
