We continue to enjoy our outdoor learning time, where we have been focusing on orienteering and hope to start planning journeys to different places in our local community.

Our gym days are Tuesday and Wednesday. Gym kit is required on these days. Gym kit can now be left in school if it is in a bag that can be hung on a peg in the cloakroom. It is really helpful if you can put your child’s name on any item of gym kit or school clothing brought in (even shoes). This helps us to find the owner of any lost items.

Our pupils in Area 5 have settled well after the summer holidays. We have spent time exploring our new classroom and getting to know new people in our class. We have been learning about The Rights of a Child and how we can help others to enjoy their rights. As a class we have worked together to form our class charter. We discussed as a class and chose a right that we thought was extremely important for us to have.

In numeracy and maths, we will be working on place value. We will be learning to count forwards and backwards, confidently, from any number within 100 or 1000 and beyond. We will also be learning to read and write bigger numbers and more.

In literacy, we are continuing to build our confidence and knowledge of phonics to help develop our reading and spelling skills. Reading will be heard in class and sent home weekly. We have been learning how to write about an event we have already experienced and have started learning how to review short films and books.

We also have started outdoor learning on Thursday with Area 4. We are learning how to be safe outside as well as working on our communication and team work skills.

Our topic this term is Artic Adventure where we will be learning all about where the artic is, the climate, animals and more.
