Term3

Literacy
P1 are continuing to follow Jolly Phonics and are currently learning 2 letter sounds. We are also looking at 3 letter words and how to sound and spell them.

P2 groups are looking at 3 and 4 letter words as well as initial and final blends.

Reading groups vary between Stage 3 to 8 and all groups have either moved onto the next stage or are close to moving.

In our writing we have been looking at report writing and procedure writing. We will be moving onto explanation writing next.

Health and Wellbeing
We are currently looking at safety in our community and stranger danger. We have also been looking at how to keep safe in unsafe situations.

We are moving onto personal hygiene and why this is important.

IDL
Our topic for this term is Our Community. We have been lucky to have some visitors to come and talk to us about their jobs in the community such as a Vet Nurse, Police Officers, a Bank Teller, a Nurse and a shop owner. We are also planning a trip to the library and the RNLI Station

Numeracy
We are looking at subtraction and addition within 20 and beyond for some learners. This includes missing number calculations. We are looking to move onto multiplication next.

Term 1 and 2

In literacy P1 are learning their initial sounds and starting to look at small words. P2 are continuing to build sentences with the words they know. They have also been looking at retelling a story about a time they did something such as going to the park or the cinema.

In numeracy P1 are learning numbers 0-10 and looking at sequencing as well as what comes before, after and in between. P2 are looking at place value and partitioning of 2-digit and 3-digit numbers.

This term our project is Knights and Castles. We have been looking at why castles were made from stone and the weapons knights used. We are making our own weapons and designing our own shields. We will also be looking at food eaten and clothes worn during this time.

 

In health and wellbeing we are learning about our rights and why they are important. We are also looking at friendships and what makes a good friend.
