Kinghorn Primary School is housed in a modern building built in 1986. The school has a long history dating back to Victorian times and the original premises are now a community centre. References to the old school and its history can be found by searching the Internet. The school enjoys fine views across the Firth of Forth.

The main school building houses 9 open-plan classrooms, a hall, 3 additional teaching areas, office accommodation as well as a number of other facilities such as a group room and medical room. A controlled entry system operates on all external doors. The school also has a nursery in a separate building with its own play and garden areas. The school grounds consist of a grassed area, playground, conservation area and garden beds that, for the most part, are enjoyed by the pupils all year round.

The school is an integral part of the local community and local residents as well as parents are highly supportive of its endeavours to provide the best possible education for all its pupils. Consequently the school enjoys the support of an active Parent Council, a Pupil Council and links with the local parish church.

In addition to the headteacher and a principal teacher, the school has 8 teachers and a learning support teacher. Teaching, non-teaching and visiting staff in total amounts to some 35 adults working at the school at one time or another.

Her Majesty’s Inspectors confirmed that the school provides a high quality education for its pupils and this is particularly so within the expressive arts where there is a long-standing tradition of excellence. However, Kinghorn has also enjoyed success by achieving Eco-school and Investors in People status.

Kinghorn Primary School community is continuously striving to improve and develop the quality of experience offered to its young people. There is seldom a time when something new is not being attempted.
