Week beginning 18th May 2026.

Monday 18th May.

Today in the nursery we have been very crafty and creating butterflies with a variety of materials, such as cellophane, Pom poms and shapes. The home corner was very busy with some children dressing up , looking after the babies and dogs , a lot of role play and conversation about who is feeding them , what they need to get fed and what they need to get big and strong.
The water tray was popular , a lot of exploring , splashing and pouring.
Before lunch , we practiced our rhymes for our nursery rhyme time , we are doing a great job learning all the words of the songs.

Outside a few of the children were exploring the garden to collect nature materials for their potions and making ‘rainbow trees’. Using their imagination some of the children were decorating the trees outside with quoits, bean bags and balls , it was full of colour!

Tuesday 19th May.

Today was a busy day for our little learners and builders. Some children were at the block area , creating a road with different sized blocks , they spent some time concentrating on getting the shape right so the cars can go down , then continued to build a garage to ‘park them’. Some were doing some patterns together and practicing to write their name. A few children were exploring the room with the magnifying glass to see what they can find. A lot of sand and water play throughout the day.

Outdoors , Miss Higgins introduced the children to a game called ‘hot potato’ and fun exciting way for children to work on their gross motor skills and throwing and catching , then continued with children had to pretend the ball was hot , who ever they were throwing it to had to catch it and do the same , or they threw into the basket for being ‘to hot’.

Wednesday 20th May.

While some of the children were doing their school visit , the children here were exploring all areas of the nursery , some choose to read some stories , some were in the messy area , creating patterns in the sand , making wands with sticks and tissue paper. A few children were using the furniture to make up the dolls house , there was discussion on what goes where and which doll goes where.
Outside there was a lot of dinosaur play , using the excess water from the rain to splash them in and use it to feed them. There was a lot of races with bikes and scooters.

It was our sponsored nursery rhyme time , we managed to sing 12 songs in 3 minutes!! We are super proud of all our boys and girls for all their singing voices. And to Mums , Dads , Grans and Grandads who came to see us.

Thursday 21st May.

To start off our morning , we all met at the gym hall where we practiced our potted sports and races for our sports day! I’m sure all the children are ready and they done amazing listening to the rules of the races. Back at nursery some children worked together to build different models with the Lego , such as cars , lorry’s , a dinosaur and much more, they shared the Lego really well showing kindness and fairness. Also using their imagination by feeding the horse. A few children were interested in measuring their height against the wall.

Outside there was a lot of physical play , climbing up and down the cubes , running , hopping and jumping.

To end the day we watching the life cycle of a butterfly , it was very interesting, we then got to draw what we thought the colours our butterflies would turn out like. We can’t wait to see!!

Friday 22nd May.

We spent most of the morning out in the garden to make the most of the sunshine , we had the water tray and tuff tray filled with jugs , pipes to roll balls down and explore the different forces. One child was loving throwing the water as far as it can go.
Some children spent some time making puppets with toilet roll tubes , sticks and tissue paper. We have created a suitcase and seat belt too!
To end the day we listened to a story , the cd version and the book of creepy crawlies calypso  , we heard the different instruments and we had to identify them when reading the book.
