Celebrating Success

We are a school which encourage a very positive attitude towards learning and promote the celebration of success within Fair Isle.  There are numerous ways in which we do this which are detailed below;

Class Reward System

Each class within the school will have their own Reward System in place depending on the requirements of the class and these can be altered and adapted throughout the session.  Please ask your child what the system is in their class.

Ace Awards

Ace awards are given to children from the class teacher for positive behaviour, manners, high quality of work as well as any other situation that they feel deserves recognition. Four ace awards will lead to a letter home, six ace awards results in a Head Teacher Award and if a pupil receives ten ace awards in a school year, they will become a Star Pupil. For term 1, we are carrying over the Ace Award count from last session to give the children the opportunity to achieve their targets from last year.

Achievement Awards

Achievement awards are given out to children who have participated successfully in any activity out-with school.  Success in groups such as Brownies, Football Teams, Gymnastics Squads or even individual events such as the Summer Reading Challenge run through Templehall Library, are all rewarded with an Achievement Award.  These are celebrated at assemblies and displayed in school.

Star Writer (Infants).

Each week in P1-3 a Star Writer from each class will be nominated by the class teacher to have their work displayed throughout the school.  This is a huge privilege and helps other children strive to achieve success.

Depute’s Reward (Upper School).

In P4-7 there is the Depute’s Reward each week, where one child from each class is nominated by the class teacher to be invited to Hot Chocolate and a chat with Mr Hutcheson. Unfortunately that cannot happen currently, so a new treat is getting organised.  If your child is nominated they will receive a personal invite, certificate and the opportunity to discuss with the DHT, improvements they would like to see in the school. Also this year we have decided that if your child receives the Depute’s Reward, this will be the equivalent to two ace awards towards the Star Pupil target.
