Every child from P1 to P7 is involved in a Pupil Leadership Committee to give them the opportunity to share their thoughts, ideas and to lead on a certain area of development for the school. The committees are facilitated by a member of staff, but children lead as much as possible – even recording the minutes of meetings. This year we have 3 committees which meet once a week, the children have explained below what each group is working on or have achieved so far.

 

Citizenship Committee

We try to promote learning about rights. In the past we have organised activities and assemblies to help acknowledge our rights within our community. We have organised a special event within the week called ‘Club of Clubs’ – children in the school share their talents with others by hosting a 45-minute club with a group of children.

We are currently working on promoting road safety and improving our School Travel Plan.

Eco Committee

We are all extremely proud to say that we have earned the Eco Green Flag multiple times throughout the years, most recently in July 2023. We are the Eco Warriors of Elie Primary School! We have planned litter picks, planting vegetables and reducing food waste by distributing extra lunch fruit at Fruit Fridays! We are always trying to think of new ideas to improve our environment.

 

Sports & Wellbeing Committee

We earned the Gold School Sports Award in 2023. We are working on teaching the school the 5 Ways to Wellbeing. We plan sports day and other festivals throughout the year. We also keep the school healthy by hosting lunch time clubs. We have raised money for charities: for Children in Need we held a Dance-a-thon for Pudsey day which raised £78.16 and for Red-Nose Day, we hosted a talent show which raised £18.
