We really believe in our vision and encourage our pupils to dream big for themselves and strive to have bright futures in which they can achieve anything they put their minds to.
Our aim is to create an ethos within the school environment where pupils, parents and staff work together in partnership to provide the highest possible standard of education for all pupils.
The children enjoy discussing our school values and are very passionate about them. Our values are displayed throughout the school and values certificates are handed out to the children during assemblies. We have an amazing school song called ‘Small School, Big Dreams’ and the pupils enjoy coming together during assembly time to sing the song.
The teachers work hard to ensure the values are referred to in class and are taught through Health and Wellbeing lessons.
Our vision and values are displayed on cogs throughout the school.
We have recently updated our school aims, in partnership with the children, to promote the wellbeing indicators as we hope to encourage in all our pupils.

We have just one class in the school this year covering P2-7 with 20 children .
P2-7 classroom
There are lots of opportunity for play built into the day for our early years children, many of the upper years pupils benefit from getting involved with the play and extending the learning of their classmates. For most areas of the curriculum, the class are in groups related to their stage in learning not necessarily their age. However, during more active hands-on activities, cooperative groups are used regularly to allow children to work in mixed ability groups – this promotes leadership skills for all and offers a chance for informal tips/tricks to be passed on from more experienced pupils.
Alongside working in the classroom, we use different areas of the school which are close by. We are lucky enough to have Room 3 which has become our free-play and more active learning area. Since the classroom is a busy place with many different groups learning a variety of things, children regularly utilise the library as a quiet place to focus without the distraction of other groups’ lessons.
In the upper years we promote an enterprising and creative attitude to learning. This often results in the children planning events, fundraisers and clubs for their classmates. ICT skills are developed throughout the year groups, with the older children regularly using digital technology to advance or showcase their learning.
In the class, all the pupils are encouraged, and excited, to share their knowledge and be mini-teachers to others if they are struggling. Our assemblies regularly include a ‘Pupil Masterclass’, where individuals have the opportunity to share an area of expertise with everyone. We all work together to ensure that everyone is supported and successful in their learning.
