The EAL Learner Profile is used for:

Tracking – it is intended for use by class and support teachers as a tracking tool. It is used to identify the stage of English language acquisition.
Planning – it can be used to set targets for EAL learners through the five stages of English language acquisition.
Reporting – it can be used to inform parents and other agencies of progress.
Identifying specific areas of difficulty as well as highlighting the possibility of additional support needs.

Note: the profile has been designed to monitor and track the progress of
English language acquisition only. It does not reflect the achievements and
competencies of learners in other languages they may use.
