Curricular Policy

Our curriculum at Collydean Primary School provides opportunity for our pupils to develop socially, emotionally and cognitively in an enjoyable and challenging environment,  recognising individual needs from nursery to P7.

The term Curriculum for Excellence (CfE) defines our aim: to provide an excellent curriculum for all our pupils. We constantly reflect on our provision to ensure improvement and continue our journey to achieve excellence.

The Curriculum has seven areas:

  • Literacy
  • Numeracy
  • Health & wellbeing
  • Social studies
  • Science
  • Technology
  • Religious and Moral Education

Knowledge, understanding and skills are developed within each curricular area as well as through cross-curricular activities. Pupils are given many opportunities to develop skills in a variety of contexts to deepen understanding and provide a clear purpose for their learning.

Multi-sensory teaching approaches are implemented to ensure individual learning styles are addressed.

At every opportunity learning is active and enjoyable although on occasions rote learning is required.
