Determined to Succeed is a national initiative designed to develop pupils’ awareness and understanding of ‘enterprise’ and how this can positively affect their lives.
In Collydean Primary School we do lots of Enterprising activities. Enterprise is important to us because it:
- develops skills for learning and employment, such as teamwork, communication and time management
- reflects the capacities of a Curriculum of Excellence:
- Successful learners
- Confident individuals
- Effective contributors
- Responsible Citizens
- Encourages creativity and innovation
- Motivates and engages pupils in their learning
Examples of Enterprise at Collydean include:
- Forging links with outside organisations, such as the Magnus Drive Initiative
- Supporting charities through fundraising activities for the Shoe Box Appeal, Children in Need, Poppy Appeal, British Heart Foundation, and Sport Relief.
- Pupils fundraising for class and whole school initiatives
- Our annual Christmas Craft Fair: pupils take responsibility for designing, producing, marketing and selling their craft to families just before Christmas.
- Parent involvement with P1-P7 Fun Finish , Stay and Play in nursery, regular coffee mornings and performances
- Pupil Council
- ECO Council
- Health Promoting Schools activities
- After school clubs : signing club, chess, athletics, Radiowaves and Fitness Fun
- Credit Union
- House Heads
Pupils and staff at Collydean PS have a “can do” “will do” attitude and all are involved in the decision making process.
