Nursery
New starts
A warm welcome to our new children and families who started with us last week. Everyone has settled really well, children are busy exploring all the nursery has to offer and making new friendships.
Family Learning
Family learning is an approach in early years to engaging families in learning outcomes that have a positive impact on the whole family. Some of the family learning experiences we have offered previously include: Stay and Play sessions; Bookbug; PEEP (Parents Early Education Partnership); Family Forest; Sensory sessions and a Christmas craft session.
Every so often we pause our family learning offerings to plan what we wish to do next. We will let you know through Seesaw when we have new family learning experiences available to attend. If there is anything you would like to take part in or a particular area you would like us to focus on for family learning then please speak to one of the team or send us a message on Seesaw.
Children’s belongings
We have a lot of children in the nursery and it can be difficult to keep track of what items belong to each child, especially at this time of year with hats, gloves etc. It would be really helpful if you could label all your child’s belongings as this makes it much easier to get misplaced items back to the correct child. As children come to recognise their own name it also helps them to gain independence and recognise their own items easily.
Please can you label all clothing and footwear your child wears to nursery. It would also be really helpful to label packed lunch bottles, water bottles and plastic tubs too. Thank you.
Footwear
Lots of children are wearing wellies to nursery due to the weather at the moment which is great for keeping their feet dry outdoors. If children have a spare pair of trainers or shoes, which they could have in their bag for wearing indoors, it would be great if you could send these in as this will help to reduce the amount of mud being brought indoors, thank you.
Weekly Kodaly music sessions
This term all children will be receiving weekly Kodaly music sessions in small groups in Room 4 from Cat Evison, Kodaly music teacher. Kodaly sessions help children to learn about rhythm and rhyme and develop their language skills through repetitive singing games and rhymes. The first sessions today went well with lots of good listening and participation from the children. We will post some of the songs/rhymes on Seesaw should you wish to practice these at home with your child.
