This term, we will be developing a range of important skills across the curriculum.

In Literacy, our focus will be on Listening and Talking, particularly during personal talks. Pupils will work on key skills such as speaking clearly, maintaining eye contact, and using an appropriate volume to engage their audience. In writing, we will be developing imaginative pieces, with a strong focus on structure (beginning, middle, and end), as well as using speech marks and descriptive language such as adjectives. Pupils will work towards producing a final creative writing piece to showcase these skills.

In Numeracy, learning will be active and practical. We will explore measurement, including length, weight, and volume/capacity, as well as introducing perimeter and area. Pupils will also learn about time, including reading and converting between 12-hour and 24-hour time, and applying this knowledge through real-life contexts such as using timetables.

Our IDL topic this term is The Victorians, which we have already chosen together as a class. Pupils will take ownership of their learning by exploring areas they are most interested in. These may include Victorian housing, famous people, schools, inventors, and clothing. A range of activities—such as research, discussions, and creative tasks—will help bring this period in history to life.
