Dark Rooms

We all have access to an adjoining dark room from each of our classrooms which we are able to access for a variety of purposes.

The dark room is a small room which is painted entirely in black.  The lighting can be dimmed to suit and there are also ultraviolet lights which can be used if desired.  Many of us use the dark room as a quiet place to take some time to relax away from the bright lights and noises of daily classroom life.  For this reason there is often a comfy area with cushions, pillows and mats where we can lie down and chill out!  The dark room is also a useful environment for those of us who have a visual impairment to explore resources and materials again without the bright lights of the surrounding classroom environment.  Occasionally a class dark room will be transformed where appropriate to assist with teaching.
