At Bellyeoman we believe children should have the right to the best possible childhood, where they are respected, listened to, well looked after, safe and happy.
‘The Bellyeoman Way’ is to nurture our children to the best they can be. This is understood across the whole school community.
We are committed to encouraging resilience and we believe that skills development is crucial for our pupils’ life-long learning. Our core values, chosen by pupils are:
Ready, Respect and Safe
Whilst recognising the importance of maintaining high attainment, we celebrate the diverse interests and individual talents of our pupils and strive to commend achievements in a variety of ways.
The school has good links with the community and we work closely with Active Schools and external providers to offer our children a range of extra-curricular clubs and activities including: choir, football, hockey and ukulele.
We have a committed staff team who engage in professional development and involve themselves in leading curricular work and who contribute to the wider life of the school. We have members of staff who are involved in work across the cluster and council.
We are a nurturing school and are dedicated to meeting the needs of every learner. There is a focus on ensuring our children are ‘ready to learn.’ We have a committed PSA team who work in partnership with our teaching staff to support the learning and wellbeing of our children. Our Nurture Hub supports a number of learners across the school with children participating in Kitbag, Lego Therapy, anxiety support and sensory play sessions. Universal support strategies have been adopted across all our classrooms including the use of Emotion Works, calm areas, sensory resources and visual supports. We have a breakfast club every morning which is funded by Stephens Bakery and run by school staff.
Pupil leadership and pupil voice are strong features in our school and there are many opportunities for children to contribute to school improvements including House Captains, Prefects, Ambassadors, Playground Buddies, Learning Council and Junior Road Safety Officers.
