Diver Visit to P5N
On Friday the 25th of November p5n had real divers in our class. We saw real equipment and pictures. We saw a video of a seal hugging someone. We saw real baby crabs and seaweed and it was very fun. We got to try the equipment on and it was funny and interesting. Nicole
P5N Assembly
On Monday 28th November it was our assembly. It was called Ocean Commotion. At our Primary 5N assembly, I played the part of the great white shark and really liked it. We had several lines and songs to learn for our assembly. Our assembly ocean commotion was about our topic in class as we have been learning about ocean life.

Switch Off Fortnight Update!
Last week P5N visited all classes 3 times to see how well there were saving energy. Primary 4 are currently in the lead as they are always making sure their smartboard is off, that computer screens are off when not in use, there are not appliances on standby and that their lights are switched off when not in use. Primary 1 are very close behind and are doing very well too. We will visit classes again this week and carry out our energy saving spot checks!
Primary 5N Treasure Maps!
We have completed our treasure maps by adding different items like sharks, whales, lighthouses and treasure chests! We made these out of clay then coloured them in. We drew co-ordinate lines onto our maps and tested the other groups to see if they could write down the co-ordinates of the items. All groups did very well!
Primary 5N are Waste Watchers!
Primary 5N completed their Waste Watchers challenge and were given some amazing prizes from Jen Barrett! We found that sometimes we are wasting food at home by throwing things out if they have gone off or if we have too much on our plate. We are definitely going to make sure we are Waste Watchers all the time now!
Switch Off Fortnight!
Primary 5N are organising Switch Off Fortnight which is taking place between 21st November – 4th December. Switch-Off Fortnight is going to be a fantastic opportunity to get the whole school learning about energy and thinking about how we can cut down on the amount of energy we use both at school and at home. We are going to be coming into classes and monitoring how much energy is being saved!
Ocean Measuring
P5n went out in the playground and measured the size of underwater creatures and some of them they were very large. The Great White shark can be up to 10 metres long! We used a trundle wheel and a metre stick to measure the size of them. Then we used chalk to mark the size of the sea creatures. It was fun. 😀
Map Making P5N
We have been working in our co-operative learning groups to make maps. We use maps in Endless Ocean. We have been learning about co-ordinates in maths and turned these into real 3D maps!
