LEARNING GALORE!

In our ‘Creation Station’ we collected lots of Autumn leaves, conkers, acorns, pine cones in our tuff spot. We used these to make ‘Leaf Characters’ and wrote some facts about them. Aila and Kirsty used a chestnut leaf and added legs and a face to make a fox. Our Autumn Art was so unique as we created hedgehogs, animals, birds, faces and many more. As Halloween and Guy Fawkes arrived we used pipe cleaners, sticks, gems, beans to make spiders, webs, witches and ‘colourful, amazing, bright’ firework pictures.

In Science, this term we are learning about Germs and Diseases and how germs spread and what bacteria and viruses can help us be unwell and well. We have asked lots of questions about what we would like to investigate. Hudson told us about washing your hands properly: front, back, palms, between fingers and nails. We all tried the ‘glitter experiment’ adding glitter to hand gel and then touching our friend’s hand. Flynn informed us that germs will pass up to six people. We also used the hand washing machine, which showed like an x-ray the germs on our hands.  ‘Yuk’ we all thought!!

In PE, after saying ‘we can’t skip YET,’ we can now skip and have been counting to see if we can skip to 100. We are so proud of being able to skip now. Finlay and Charlie are keen to learn how to skip backwards! This term we will be learning some new gymnastic skills, we need to practise these at home too.

For HWB, we have been very lucky to have some visitors. PC Trainer came to talk to us about Firework Safety and to tell us about his job in our community. He told us about the different equipment he has as part of his uniform. Gregor got to wear his hat and Mrs Brown had the hand-cuffs on. Will remembered that he doesn’t like to use the spray gun and Sandy wrote that PC Trainer likes to talk to people to sort things out. Lisa the Dentist also visited us to remind us about brushing out teeth. She showed us how much sugar there is in some drinks and sweets. Aila was fascinated that there are 6 spoons of sugar in a small packet of Haribos.

We are becoming experts at ICT as we can now type sentences to match some of our pictures. We practise our Numeracy activities and Thomas found a measuring game which he shared with the class. Our favourite is working through the levels on Nessie and beating our target!

Reverend Barclay came to speak to us about Harvest time in the Church and helping others in our community. In RME this term, we will be finding out about the Russian Christmas story of Papa Panov and how Christmas is celebrated in other countries.

In French, we learned the French words for Halloween. Archie remembered we say ‘sorciereWe will be listening to well-known stories and singing songs.

As part of Expressive Arts and Social Studies, we will be learning about different environments and expressing this through Drama and Dance. We look forward to entertaining you at our Christmas Show and our Christmas Service at the Church.

Awesome Achievements

Once again incredible Achievements this term. So many sporting achievements from scoring goals, moving up swimming levels, water flips, taking golf lessons to taking part in the Great Scottish Run. Many of us have joined Rainbows and Beavers and can’t wait to start getting badges for our uniform.
