Monday 15 January 2018.
Martin Luther King, the American Civil rights leader was born on the 15th of January in 1929 in the United States. We remember this day as he was one of the Christian leaders who opposed the laws and attitude of discrimination and fully committed himself to non violence. He said “Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend”.
Let us pray:
Father, may our human family not become separated from you by building barriers of race or colour or religion or class. Inspire us to recognise that we are all made in your image and likeness so that we may grow in appreciation of all people and grow in pride of who we are. Amen.
Our Father……..
Tuesday 16 January 2018.
Tonight we have our Holy Hour for Vocations and we hope that pupils, staff and families will come to pray for this very important intention.
Trying to discover what we should do with our lives is not an easy task. We pray for God’s help at those times in life when we need to make a decision about our vocation.
Lord, I thank You for the gifts You have given me, especially for life, love, family and friends. Help me to know myself better and to know my talents, as I pray, study and decide on my life’s work. Help me to see and understand the path You open for me. Help me choose a life’s work which will be in response to my potential and your love for me.
If I am being invited to follow You as a priest, brother, sister, give me a generous heart to respond to your challenging call and the strength to follow You wherever You lead me.
Our Father……..
Wednesday 17 January 2018.
As we begin this day, we ask God to fill us with his Spirit and to guide us in his love throughout the day.
Father, you fill the Hearts of the Faithful with your Spirit. You send us the light of the Holy Spirit. Help us to use the gifts of knowledge, understanding, right judgement and courage in all that we do today. We pray that in our actions others will see your love in their lives.
Hail Mary….
Thursday 18 January 2018.
Let us remember today that Love is a great gift from God.
Love can take many hearts and make them one, uniting them in the love of
God: it makes them open, friendly, peaceful, one in mind and heart; it
makes them capable of learning the will of God.
St. Paul reminds us that:
Love is patient; love is kind. Love is not jealous, it does not put on
airs, it is not snobbish. Love is never rude, it is not self-seeking, it
is not prone to anger; neither does it brood over injuries. Love does
not rejoice in what is wrong but rejoices with the truth. There is no
limit to love’s forbearance, to its trust, its hope, its power to
endure.
Blessed are you, Creator of heaven and earth,
–you made the world and offer it life.
Remember us as we begin our work today,
–that we work in harmony with others.
May we do what is useful for our brothers and sisters,
–and together build a world that is pleasing to you.
To us and all whom we meet today,
–give your joy and peace.
Now let us say together:
Our Father…
Friday 19 January 2018.
Today we ask God to look upon our willingness to serve him despite our spiritual poverty and limited abilities.
Fulfil the deepest longings of our hearts with your presence. Fill our broken hearts with your healing love so that we may love as you have loved us. Grant us the gift of unity so that we may serve you with joy and share your love with all. This we ask in the name of your Son Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Our Father……..
