This week P2 have been looking at artwork created by Wassily Kandinsky. We learnt some interesting facts about this Russian artist and discussed how the colours and shapes he painted made us feel. The children created their own art piece inspired by Kandinsky’s ‘Concentric Circles’.

ScotRail’s visit to P2
We had two fabulous visitors from ScotRail last week. We discussed different kinds of trains and how they work, our local stations and shared our experiences on ScotRail trains. The children loved using the machines to create their very own train ticket.
Busby Library
The P2 class have been making regular visits to the Busby library. We have been listening to lots of lovely stories and choosing a new book which we can read in class.
Maths Week
We had lots of fun last week for Maths Week.
P2 helped create a game for the maths carnival on Friday afternoon. Oscar suggested a maths themed escape room which was overwhelmingly voted for by the other children. P2 helped make questions that would reveal codes to unlock three padlocks and escape.
We enjoyed exploring all the different games created by each class at the maths carnival.
P2 also took part in a maths relay race with the P2/3 class. They worked in small teams to solve problems and race for the next question.
Sensory Play
The children engaged in sensory play last week. They explored activities using the sensory information of sight, touch, smell and sound. This kind of play supports language development as children create stories and explain what they’re doing. It develops fine motor skills as they work with their hands and fingers. And, it allows them to problem solve, finding solutions independently as well as working with their friends.
Thank you to the children who acted as our fabulous photographers!
