The children then brought the ice inside to see what would happen to it. Using their observation skills (and lots of touching) they watched as the ice began to melt. p1050432p1050445p1050447p1050449

Architect

On Friday the 7th October Mr Smith (one of the parents) an Architect paid a visit to the Saplings building. During his visit the children investigated a variety of shapes where they were able to draw and describe shape. Throughout the visit the children were using length vocabulary to compare and describe size. They were able to undertake practical activities to measure length and they reported on their investigations. Thank you Mr Smith, you are welcome back anytime!

Clay

Over the past couple of weeks some of the children have been using clay to create a piece of 3D art.

The first week they created their design. This activity allowed the children to explore textures. They used items from outdoors, such as sticks and leaves to make rough and smooth areas in the clay.

Once they were dry the children were able to paint their design. This allowed them to create their final piece using a variety of materials.
