Christmas

Our Christmas trees arrived on Monday, the children did a fantastic job decorating them.

Thank you to our postal worker Scott who collected some of the children’s letters to be delivered to Santa!

Elf on the Shelf arrived in nursery and has been up to no good since!

Mary’s Meals

We used World Porridge Day to introduce the children to Mary’s Meals. We’re taking part in the Backpack Appeal.

We had two visitors from Mary’s Meals talking to the children about the backpack appeal.

Thank you to those who have donated items so far!

Maths Week 2018

We had lots of fun while playfully learning during Maths Week.

Miss Ramsay explained that she has to count the stitches and spaces to follow the pattern while cross-stitching. Some of the children used needles and thread while making their own piece of sewing. Cross-stitching is very tricky when you are 3!

Some of the children made bread rolls with Mrs Flower. They weighed, measured, kneaded and timed how long the dough would take to rise. The dough almost doubled in size while proving.

Mrs Gemmell demonstrated all of the maths skills she uses when sewing and with the children’s help made a lovely handbag!

Our Maths Week family Bookbug was very busy! Thank you to all the families who were able to attend.

We worked as part of a team with Primary 5 pupils who helped us make a maths design.

As part of the Hands up Scotland Survey the children helped to make a graph all about how they traveled to nursery.

We explored numbers up to 20 by playing BINGO!

Some Primary 6 and 7 children from Netherlee Primary School came over to the nursery to share with us how they use maths to achieve in their various clubs and hobbies.

These are just a handful of the activities the children engaged in during Maths Week Scotland, we are already excited about next year!

Tie Ceremony

The children were fabulous at their Tie Ceremony on Friday 22nd June. They proudly wore their individually designed ‘Class of 18’ t-shirts, sang with gusto and received their school ties.

Outdoor Maths Stay and Play

During the week starting 30th April some children visited the forest area. Parents, carers, child-minders, grandparents etc. were invited to join them to engage in a variety of maths based activities. This opportunity allowed parents/carers to find out about some of the different approaches used outdoors to help children enjoy and be successful mathematicians.
