Scottish Parliament Visit

This week P6 have rolled up their sleeves and got stuck into Politics. We had a visit from the Scottish Parliament’s Education Department who ran a workshop for us and St. Clare’s P6.

They gave us lots of information about the Parliament and why politics is so important. We then got to answer questions on our interactive keypads and at the end we found out that Hadi got the most questions correct in the quickest time, well done Hadi!

We then got to create our own political parties and came up with our manifesto which we presented to the class. After, the party leaders gave their speech we all voted on the ballot paper for our favourite party. The votes were counted and the winner announced.

Everyone had a really enjoyable day, learning more about politics and also developing our group work and presentation skills. Who knows, one of us may be a future First Minister!

MSP question and answer session

Hello and welcome back after a  long October break!

We have had a fun and interesting week in primary 6. Let’s start by telling you about our special visitor today…Mr Tompkins, an MSP (and Leo’s dad!) who came to speak to us and P6 St. Clare’s about his job and politics. We have been learning about the Scottish Parliament in Social Sciences and today we got the opportunity to tell Mr Tomkins about what we have learnt so far and also ask him lots of questions. We all really enjoyed learning more about what an MSP does and why it’s important that we get involved with politics. We really appreciate Mr Tompkins taking time to talk to us and help us learn more about the Scottish Parliament.

We also took part the the Shabbat UK Challah Bake as a school yesterday which was great fun. We platted our Challah, sung songs and danced with the Rabbis. It was also a chance for us to reflect and make our Shabbat pledges which we read out at Kabbalat Shabbat.
