This week we have been learning about the meaning of diversity and why it is so important to embrace and accept diversity in our society. We worked with St Clare’s to discuss what diversity looks like and discovered that there are lots of ways we are different and that’s what makes us unique and interesting!
On Thursday it was Diversity Day so we went with St Clare’s to The Foundry at Barrhead to learn more about diversity. There were lots of different stalls where you could learn about many religions like Islam, Hinduism, Sikhism, Catholicism and Judaism. We got to try on Saris, Turbans and play different instruments from all the different religions. It was so interesting and fun! Then we got to learn some dancing, not your typical dancing though, it was Bollywood dancing from India. After that we played some team sports with other schools and finally we had to decorate our own mug with all the different religious symbols that we had learnt about that day. Unfortunately, the rain was so heavy on the way back to the bus our mugs got soaked and it rubbed all our art work off but we still enjoyed making our mugs.
We loved Diversity Day and learning about all the different religions. We even helped at the Judaism stall to explain some things to other schools about Judaism and blew the shofar for them. It was a great day!
