05.02.20 Minutes

We went outside to explore the school grounds and look for locations where we could potentially plant trees. We then came back inside to use our Chromebooks for research:

  • Height
  • Roots breadth
  • Soil condition
  • Light

Tree Saplings

We have been given 75 trees to plant around our school and community. Here are a list of the different trees:

Latin Name Common Name Number of saplings
Viburnum opulus Guelder rose 15
Crataegus monogyna Hawthorn 15
Prunus spinosa Blackthorn 15
Euonymus europaeus European spindle 15
Sorbus aucuparia Rowan 15

Our first job is to research these trees and find out how much space they take and where they grow best.

Do you recognise any? Have you seen any on your route to school?

We will then be in a position to plant them before the winter is over.

Hello world!

Welcome to  our first School Ground Keeper blog.  Last week we met as a group for the first time to brainstorm our ideas and come up with a group action plan.
