PE/Outdoor Learning Kit Items

Hi everyone,

We’ve gone through our PE/Outdoor Learning Kits to see if we’re missing any items. We’ll send home emails in the next few days with notes of anything that your child is missing.

If you’ve brought any items in during the past week you can cross them off the list 🙂

Thank you,

Gordon

News & Updates

Hi everyone, Happy New Year! Hope you all had a lovely time off 🙂 Just a few updates for P2c:

  • Super Skills – As a school we are no longer doing Friday Fun last thing on a Friday. In its place all children will be taking part in a ‘Super Skills’ programme where they will be working with other children across their year group to develop new skills. In P2 our area of focus is currently Expressive Arts – specifically Art, Drama & Music. Each child in P2 will be assigned a group: 1, 2 or 3 and will then rotate every three weeks between myself (Music), Mrs Wallace (Art) & Miss Itcovitz (Drama) during this last slot on a Friday.
  • PE Kits – All PE Kits have been sent home today, if you get a chance to put them in the washing machine and send back that would be fantastic.
  • Outdoor Clothing – If you have any outdoor clothing that you can send in for your child that would be fantastic: wellie boots, waterproof trousers etc. (If not already done so) We can store this in the classroom, so it doesn’t have to go home/come in each week.
  • Cards/Trading Toys – If possible could I ask that any Pokemon cards/other trading toys aren’t brought into school, as they can end up causing arguments with other children.

Thank you 🙂

Happy Holidays :)

Outdoor Learning Day

Primary 2c’s Outdoor Learning Day will be on a Monday 🙂

Task Sheet:

Spelling Menu:

Brief Guide to Homework:

  • Numeracy & Mathmatics:
    • Mental Maths Booklet with 10 questions each day, Monday to Thursday.
      • There’s no need to write anything down.
      • The children are free to use their fingers, counters, number lines etc. to help them.
    • Extension Activity
      • An additional interactive task focusing on a different aspect of maths each week.
  • Literacy & English:
    • Reading – a book to read with an adult at home each week (the school will be starting a new book scheme in the coming weeks – more information to follow)
    • Spelling – each week there will be a new set of spelling words to learn
      • For the first few weeks in P2c these will be common words that the children will use across their learning e.g. shapes, days of the week, months of the year etc.
      • Subsequently these will be words following a new spelling rule/diagraph e.g. ‘wh’, ‘th’ ‘ng’ etc. (We’ll start doing spelling tests on a Friday at this point)
      • The children can choose any activity/activities from their ‘Spelling Menu’ that they’d like to do to help them learn their spelling words.
  • Other/Reminders:
    • There’s no need to bring in any written record of the activities you do for homework – it’s all designed to be done actively.
    • From time to time a project may be set as homework in place of the usual Literacy & Maths.

If anyone ever wants to ask anything or have a quick chat, please feel free to catch me when I’m out in the Playground at 3pm each day 🙂

Meet the Teacher

Delighted to see everyone at ‘Meet the Teacher’ tonight, here’s a link to the PowerPoint from our class 🙂

Classroom Rewards

Hi everyone, here’s some information about our classroom rewards system in P2c. Each child in the class has their own ‘Punch Card’ where they can record any class points they’re given. When they get to 10 they can then select either a prize from our prize box or a classroom reward – for example being able to sit next to a friend, or going to the front of the line for a day.
