Brief Guide to Homework:

  • Numeracy & Mathmatics:
    • Mental Maths Booklet with 10 questions each day, Monday to Thursday.
      • There’s no need to write anything down.
      • The children are free to use their fingers, counters, number lines etc. to help them.
    • Extension Activity
      • An additional interactive task focusing on a different aspect of maths each week.
  • Literacy & English:
    • Reading – a book to read with an adult at home each week (the school will be starting a new book scheme in the coming weeks – more information to follow)
    • Spelling – each week there will be a new set of spelling words to learn
      • For the first few weeks in P2c these will be common words that the children will use across their learning e.g. shapes, days of the week, months of the year etc.
      • Subsequently these will be words following a new spelling rule/diagraph e.g. ‘wh’, ‘th’ ‘ng’ etc. (We’ll start doing spelling tests on a Friday at this point)
      • The children can choose any activity/activities from their ‘Spelling Menu’ that they’d like to do to help them learn their spelling words.
  • Other/Reminders:
    • There’s no need to bring in any written record of the activities you do for homework – it’s all designed to be done actively.
    • From time to time a project may be set as homework in place of the usual Literacy & Maths.

If anyone ever wants to ask anything or have a quick chat, please feel free to catch me when I’m out in the Playground at 3pm each day 🙂

Growing Plants

Today in P2c, we planted daffodils and tulips in our classroom. We’ll be watering them each week, and will hopefully have lots of beautiful flowers in March/April!

Meet the Teacher

Delighted to see everyone at ‘Meet the Teacher’ tonight, here’s a link to the PowerPoint from our class 🙂

Classroom Rewards

Hi everyone, here’s some information about our classroom rewards system in P2c. Each child in the class has their own ‘Punch Card’ where they can record any class points they’re given. When they get to 10 they can then select either a prize from our prize box or a classroom reward – for example being able to sit next to a friend, or going to the front of the line for a day.
