SSPCA Visit

We enjoyed a visit from Holly from SSPCA today. She told us how to look after our pets and how our actions can affect the health of animals in the wild.  We played a Fun facts game in small groups and constructed a robot rabbit.  After completing our rabbits, we used a coding programme on tablets to make the rabbits react to different situations.  We finished with a Q and A session at the end.

Abstract Art

We have been learning more of abstract art and we created an abstract  flower painting using colour, shapes and different  patterns first we had to draw 12 squares 3 lines down  and 2 lines to the side.

Next we painted the boxes in different colours by mixing paint.

Then we painted a border round each boxes, thinking about which colours go with each other.

After painted different colours of circles and  added shapes and patterns around the circles to create petals and we added smaller circles inside of the bigger circles to create a variety of flowers.

“We liked mixing the paint to make new shades and colours!” Mia and Ameya.

Outdoor mental maths

We were competing in house teams playing ball games using times tables.

We were also passing the ball around in a circle as fast as we could, counting in BIG numbers. It got even more challenging when someone dropped the ball because we had to start counting all over again.

Our team won!

Functional Writing

Today, in writing, we were designing flyers for Kirkhill’s Summer Family Fun Day.  We had to make sure they were eye catching, included key information and had a catchy slogan.

We were also discussing Consequences in Health and Wellbeing. We discussed a few scenarios with our partners and predicted what the consequence may be.

“If a football went over the fence and on to the road, it might distract a driver and cause an accident.” Katy
