Â
I hope you enjoy these and Chapter 5 will be ready for Monday.
Special thanks to our star of the day, Sachin, for teaching us all about the Hindu festival of Holi today. We thoroughly enjoyed his presentation!
Remember if you would like to teach the class about a festival then just speak to Mrs Smart.
“Window Wonderland” in Strathbungo is this Saturday 29th February. A free event from 6pm – 10pm with lots of amazing window displays for you to admire.
Dear Parent/Carer,
Our Fairtrade Pupil Group members have been working very hard to promote Fairtrade Fortnight which starts on Monday 24 February and finishes on Sunday 8 March 2020.
As preparation for Fairtrade Fortnight the Primary 4 pupil group members conducted a survey to find out which treats children would like to buy at the tuck shop we are planning to run. A subgroup of Primary 5s created posters to advertise the tuck shop around the school. The older members of the pupil group will be giving a speech and showing a PowerPoint to the rest of the school to raise awareness of Fairtrade. The Primary 7 members created a rota for the tuck shop (see below).
We would like to invite children to bring in cash to buy a Fairtrade treat from the tuck shop. We will be offering Geobake chocolate chip cookies, a variety of Divine chocolate bars and Fairtrade Jellybeans. The tuck shop will be running from Monday 2nd March until Friday 6th March. All items are £1.10 so please send your child with the correct amount if possible.
Yours sincerely,
Fairtrade Pupil Group
Today we explored the modern architecture of the Scottish parliament building, discussing what we thought and felt about it. Â We drew different aspects of the building using pencil and used shading to try and create form. We are really proud of the results.
P6c were getting excited about their new topic today. We spent some time gathering information about what we know now and what we would like to find out. It looks like it’s going to be an interesting study!
Today we welcomed a new teacher to our class, Mr Tobia. He shared his learning and expertise with us and taught us how to calculate the area of a compound shape. We thought he was a very good teacher; he was clear and confident in his subject. Thank you Mr Tobia!
We have been learning about the Chinese New Year Festival in class. This Sunday in George Square there will be a free celebration event between 1130 hours and 1300 hours. The event is unticketed and promises to be an afternoon “full of colour and sound; with a traditional lion dance, live martial arts display, Chinese dance performances and more…” Sounds like an interesting and fun event if you are free.
