Yeast Balloon Experiment

Today we did an experiment, where we put different levels of yeast and sugar in bottles to see what combinations would release the most carbon dioxide and make the balloons the biggest.

We found adding more sugar didn’t make a difference but adding more yeast made a big difference. One of the balloons popped and the wet yeast sugar went all over the window and window sill.

The balloons are still getting bigger and everyone in the class is excited to see how big the balloons grow over the weekend.

This week we went to an assembly about Fairtrade, the assembly was delivered by P4a. They told us about what fair trade does to help farmers to get better prices so they are fair to their employees . We were very interested to learn all about it.

Head Teachers Award

Last week we had two winners for the new Head Teacher award! The winners get to have hot chocolate with the head teacher and enjoy a chat and some music.

Well done to Inishka and Adam for being the first two winners this year!

We are looking forward to learning who the winners will be every fortnight.

Mr Blackwood’s Visit

This week on Wednesday Mr Blackwood came to teach the the whole of P7 about WWII. It was really interesting listening to his stories.

Mr Blackwood also had some helmets, stamps and old money from WWII to show us. Mr Blackwood knew so much about world WWII from all over the war, we all learnt so many new things. Thank you!

Burns Day

For Robert Burns day, we are singing a Scottish song. Our teacher asked us to research a Scottish song for our homework. We had to then present it to the class. We had a vote to see which Scottish song we would sing, and 500 miles won.

Since then, we have been practising our song in class, and for homework, to present on Friday when we are having a mini Burns supper.

Miss Edmondstone, Miss Cumming and Mr Russell joined in on the singing during our Burns Supper.

Christmas Enterprise Project/Rudolphs Raffle

For our Christmas enterprise project our groups idea won. Well I mean another group won but we get to run ours on the side. Rudolphs raffle is our game where you pay a pound and if you pick the ticket with the number 5, 10, 15, 20 and so on you win a prize. The other idea that got chosen was Ho Ho Hot chocolate, they are making cones with hot chocolate in them designed to look like rudolph and are selling the for £2 and overall will make a £150 profit.
