John Muir Award

Primary 7 are discovering their natural environment and starting their journey to achieve the John Muir award. It was a good day to start as today is Outdoor Classroom day, and the right of the month this month is Article 29 ‘the right to be educated about respecting our natural environment.’

Primary 7 learned about John Muir himself and his life, and wrote down what they would like to explore in their playground and at the residential next week.

‘I want to look at ants closely and their behaviours.’ – Matthew

‘How tall can trees grow?’ – Dylan

Everyone has many things they want to explore, which gives us a good starting point.

Genetics with Dr Gibson!

Primary 7 were very lucky to experience a science lesson delivered by Dr Gibson from Eastwood High School. She came to our class to teach us about genetics and inheritance. We looked at how genes are passed down from parents to children. Dr Gibson taught us about chromosomes and we created our own dragon with different characteristics.

♥”This was the best science lesson ever!”♥ – Max Wengel

Primary 7 have lots more exciting science lessons to look forward to in Eastwood High School!

Fidget Spinner Investigation!

Fidget Spinners are the latest craze!

P7 brought them into class to carry out a fidget spinner investigation. We each recorded our times of how long we can spin our spinners at a 45 degree angle and did this 5-10 times and then created individual graphs. Mia discovered she was getting better after each attempt! She managed to spin it for 32 seconds on her first attempt and on her 10th attempt she managed to do it for 67 seconds!
