Terrific Technology

We did a survey about the eye colours in our class. We typed the results into Microsoft Excel and inserted a range of graphs to display the results.

We are getting much more confident at typing, using the mouse and saving our work!

Sweet sorting

P2 have been learning all about soring information on different diagrams.

We had lots of fun sorting the sweets on a Venn diagram. We created our own criteria for sorting them. Miss McCabe also challenged us to sort numbers on a Venn diagram.

Super spelling 20.4.18

P2 had lots of fun writing their ‘oy’ words outside.

Remember to help us with our spelling at home. For lots of ideas on spelling activities see our video https://youtu.be/kt_UKCDwuf4

Please ask Miss McCabe if you cannot find the spelling list in our blue bag.

Toucan Art

This week we have started our new topic. It is all about The Rainforest. We have started to learn about different climates and we created these toucan pictures. We used oil pastels and tissue paper. Ask us what we have learned about climate.

Homework

We have made some changes to our homework.

We think our new phonics homework is much more fun. Try out some of the new activities with us. Watch this video to see us expain the activities.

Some of us are learning the ‘ou’ sound (mouth, house) and others are learning words beginning with bl and cl (blob, clap).

In maths we are having lots of fun while we develop our mental maths skills. Remember to encourage us to do our Maths homework on Sumdog. If you don’t have access to the internet you can attend homework club.

We will continue to get a new reading book home every Monday. Please listen to our reading.

Thank you for helping us learn.

Burns Day

We had a brilliant day to Celebrate Rabbie Burns.

We created Robert Burns art to show off to the grandparents.

In our class we enjoyed some Scottish dancing. We learned The Dashing White Sergeant.

Miss McCabe also let us try some haggis and shortbread. We had lots of fun and it was yummy.

Symmetry, penguins and writing!

Primary 2 have been working very hard. Take a look at some of the things we have been learning.

Penguin art and writing

We are very proud of our new wall display. We watched a video about Monty the Penguin and had to write what happened using sentence openers. We created our penguin pictures in art.

“We painted the background” – Amber

“We used chalk pastels, we smudged it” – Jessica

Symmetry activities

We have learned what a line of symmetry is and have been able to complete shapes to make them symmetrical. We can also use a mirror to check if a shape is symmetrical or asymmetrical.

We enjoy learning in lots of ways using playdo and iPads.

“We were trying to make symmetrical by doing a line of symmetry” – Logan

“We learned about making it the same” – Stephen

“We use a mirror to check if it is symmetrical” – Eilidh

Wonderful Writing

We have been working hard on writing in sentences. We are using openers to begin our sentences and make our writing more interesting.

We wear our special assessment glasses to look for the ‘stars’ in our writing. This week we were peer assessing.

“We wore the glasses to see if we had any sentence openers and to find it with a marker” – sophie

“We were writing about what happened from the beginning and the end.” – Paige
