Maths

As a whole class we have been looking at scale this week. We had a task with a map to find two places then measure the distance between them with a ruler. Then we calculated the measurements to scale.

We also worked on scale outside for outdoor learning. We had to draw objects to scale with chalk on the floor.

Literacy

For literacy we were working on summarising. We read a text about a mischievous cat called Oscar the ASBO cat. We then had to highlight the key words in the text and make it into a summary.

We have also been making books that we will be reading to the P1’s. We have been including lots of bright pictures and interesting story lines.

Drama

In drama we did a debate on whether Red Riding Hood was innocent of killing grandma against the big bad wolf. We set the classroom up like a proper courtroom. It was really fun!

Music

In music we were reading notes and playing them on the glockenspiel. We learnt some of the notes on the stave like crotchets and quavers. We played the song When the Saints Go Marching in.

PE

On Monday we were doing fitness. We got into a pair and counted how many pushups or situps the other person could do. On Thursday we were doing touch rugby. We played tig but the tigers had to tig you with a rugby ball and if you got caught you had to stand like a ruby post. We also played rugby basketball.
