Friday 12th June: Learning Journey Summer of Sport

As part of our Summer of Sport learning journey, we explored the rhythm and instruments of Brazilian samba music, because they are in Group C of the World Cup with Scotland!

I liked all the instruments, but my favourite was the drums because you just had to put your hands on it and make a beat. some of the names for the instruments were hard but in the end we got to hear all the sounds. (LR)

I really enjoyed learning about all the different instruments.  My favourite one was the tambourine because it made a really loud sound (AM)

I really liked the reco-reco because of the beats it made.  It made me feel really good (FS).

We also met our new P1 buddies this week.  We showed our school values beautifully and gave them a letter with some information about us.  We’ll meet them again in August!

Friday 5th June: Sports Week/World Cup and Commonwealth Day

This week, we had a Rugby taster on Monday as part of Sports Week. We developed our reflexes and did some passing too.

In PE, we played a (modified!) game of Kabaddi, which is a traditional game from South Asia.

As part of World Cup and Commonwealth Games day, we started by creating Top Trump cards about the World Cup stadia.  We researched their capacity, when they were built, their comfort, their importance and how cool they looked.

After, we made Scotland’s match stadia – Hampden, Boston, Miami (and the final stadium in New Jersey!!) using Kapla.

Finally, in the afternoon we did our own version of the World Cup games by rolling dice. If the dice decide, it looks like we’re making it out of the group stage….
