Thursday 21st May: Learning journeys x 2

This week as part of our Mining Learning Journey, we made elevators from K’nex. We have to make elevators over 30cm that could hold a rubber. It was difficult because there were so many pieces and sometimes we had to check for spares. You had to make three different parts: the carriage, the tower and the pulley system.

We also started our work on our Summer of Sport Learning journey.  We began with some research and notemaking about the Commonwealth Games that are being held in Glasgow. We made notes about the venues, the mascot, the medals and the sports. We will use our notes to make a new text of our own choice – google slides, docs, a poster or a leaflet.

Friday 15th May – RME (Bible Alive!)

This week, P5a had our first of four Bible Alive sessions, where we will explore stories from the Old Testament.  The sessions have lots of opportunities for the class to act out or mime parts of the stories and we will learn some BSL in the “Talk and Sign” sections too.

We had two nice ladies coming to teach us about Bible Alive and they’re coming every Wednesday. For our writing then we did a recount of the story of Noah. (LR)

They taught us about Noah, Abraham and Sarah, Joseph, Isaac, Adam and Eve and Cain and Abel and we were acting like people and doing stuff (MM)

We learned about the Old and the New Testament (EA)

We also completed some Health and Wellbeing lessons this week.  We talked about our favourite things that our bodies can do and how we can have positive body image.

Friday 1st May – Health and Wellbeing

In Health and Wellbeing, we were focussing on emotions and what can control them.  On a worksheet we looked at different emotions and what might help. (LR).

We did some silent graffiti to get some ideas from other people about it (HA).

The emotions were joy, sadness, anger, disgust and fear (IMcW)
