Good afternoon!

TWMTDW

Last Friday we worked together during our TWMTDW session. We had a very small amount of materials and we had to make the longest paper chain we could in 20 mins. We needed to delegate jobs, make a production line, conserve materials and use problem solving skills to make the most efficient long chain. Our longest chain was around 12 meters long, but the teams that were the most successful had a common trait – they worked as a unit.

WRITING/STORYTELLING

Our Writing and Storytelling were linked to the same story – the Sweet Talking Potato. We retold the story to our partner – this week’s focus was on using a voice that would interest and engage our audience. When we wrote our own versions of our story we were focusing on using word choices that would tell us more about the characters in the tale.

MR SPARKLE

We got an email from an old friend of Mr Chrystal – Tony Sparkle. He wants to get much better at writing and he sent us a story to look at. We gave him some top tips and emailed him back. Hopefully he keeps in touch.

CLIMATE AND AND CONTINENTS OF THE WORLD

We looked at hot and cold areas of the world, what countries they contained and what the challenges were for animals and humans living there. We will continue to look at the interaction between humans, the environment and the energy that exists in different eco-systems.

HOCKEY

Our MUGA PE time was spent on the first of a series of hockey lessons. We worked on moving with the stick, reverse stick and trapping a moving ball.

Good afternoon

We have been working on a mini topic called “Teamwork Makes the Dream Work” (TWMTDW!)

We used Kapla to build various things but the most important thing was working together co-operatively, using kind words and making sure everyone was involved.

We also had our first session in the Woodlands Area. We had a Scavenger Hunt where we had to find people and things in the Woodland area. We also played really well together.

Happy Friday!

From P4a and Mr Chrystal
