Another busy week in P3b. We would like to tell you about some of our highlights  –

Writing

We have been learning to write instructions. In order to help us we decided to make fruit kebabs and then write about the process. We had to add some new grammar techniques into our writing – adverbs and imperative verbs.

The best part of the lesson was eating our fabulous fruit.

Open Afternoon

We were very excited to welcome our parents and carers into our classroom this week. We loved sharing our learning with you. It was great to show you everything we have learned about Living and Non-living things and Food Chains.

“We made a Superhero animal” (Blair)

PE

We  started our fitness circuits this week and we look forward to recording our results and seeing if our fitness improves.

Literacy

In writing we have been learning to write a set of instructions. We have learned when we would need to use instructions and how important they are.

We know that instructions require a title, a list of what is needed and  has to be written  in chronological order.

We have also learned about verbs, time openers and imperative verbs  – these make our instructions really good!

This week we iced biscuits. It was messy but so much fun! We then had a go of writing instructions to match our method .

Science

In Science we have been learning about Living and Non-living.

We also sorted pictures into living and non-living categories and identified living and non living things from various pictures.

We spent some time in the Woodlands and made a list of different things that we found. We then collected our data and turned this into a tally mark table. Lastly, we used our data to make our very own bar chart.

We know how to collect, sort and create data as well as knowing what something needs to be categorised as living.

Hello and welcome to our blog.

This week we learned about the religious festival  Diwali  and how it is celebrated around the world.

We listened to the story of Rama and Sita and created our own Rangoli patterns.

We know that it an important religious festival for Hindu and Sikh people and is India’s most important and biggest holiday.

We hope you like our patterns. We worked hard to make them bright and colourful as well as working in teams.

Last week we lovely weather for our Colour Run. The children had a  fantastic time. We were very colourful at the end.

This week we have been designing our very own Egyptian inspired jewellery. We  used clay to recreate our designs and we will be painting them next week. We cannot wait to share our creations with you.

This week, as part of our IDL topic we learned about Egyptian homes. We designed a floor plan based on our new knowledge and then built our home using Kapla. We worked wonderfully well in groups and our results were fantastic. Take a look…

Hello everyone.

This week in P3b we have been working hard on our IDL topic “Ancient Egypt”.

We have learned where Egypt is by looking at a map of the world. We can see how far away it is from Scotland!

We have found out the reasons why the River Nile was so important to the Egyptian people as well as learning about their daily lives. We know about their homes, the different jobs people may have had and the structure of society.

It was interesting learning about the three seasons and what the Egyptian grew.  We had a little tasting session and sampled fruits that they would have eaten regularly. We enjoyed melon, grapes and figs. We know that the Ancient Egyptian people grew garlic and would eat this most days (especially if you were a farmer)  so we had a little look at this but did not taste it.  We all agreed it was very smelly!

“The figs looked like strawberries inside but they did not taste like anything.” (Austin)

“The inside of the fig looked like a brain to me.” (Cameron)

Good afternoon and welcome to our blog.

We have been working very hard to create our Class Charter based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.  We have chosen several rights that we feel  are  important for our education  and have created beautiful artwork for the classroom.

We  used  paper to draw around our hands. Then made coloured them in  using a variety of patterns and colours.  They are now part of a beautiful flower display.  Everyone in the class has their hand on the display.

The children have been settling in well to our new classroom and routines.

They have been working hard this week to complete various Literacy and Maths tasks successfully.

We have been learning about the Rights of the Child in order to create our Class Charter and have made our class rules.

We are looking forward to sharing our learning with you in our class blogs.
