We have had a shorter week this week as we were off on holiday on Monday!

We have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes.  We have been learning the names of 2D and 3D shapes.  We have been learning how to count the number of vertices (corners), edges and faces 3D shapes have.  2D shapes are shapes that we can draw or look at but cannot pick up.  3D shapes are objects.  We have been counting the sides and corners of 2D shapes.

We have been using straws and blue tac to create 3D shapes, geoboards to make shapes with elastic bands, building blocks (3D shapes) to make our own structures, tessellations with magnetic shapes, websites to create tessellations and play doh to make 3D shapes.

In PE we have been developing our athletic skills; jumping, balancing, landing, throwing and running.  The activities we were doing were; long jump, hurdles, javelin, shot put and an obstacle course.

In Social Studies we have been learning about Boudicca.  Boudicca was the Queen of the Iceni tribe who lived in Britain.  She was a fierce warrior who was the leader of the army who fought the Romans.  However, they lost.  We watched a short clip about her then read a text about her life.  We then answered questions about her and highlighted key words to find the correct answer.

In science we have been learning about the body.  This week we were learning about the brain.  We had to discover what the brain helps us to do and the different parts of the brain.
