Maths and Numeracy

We have been learning about 3D shapes like cubes, cones and spheres and square based pyramids. We did a scavenger hunt inside and outside the classroom to find the shapes. We have been working on our money and calculating change.  You have to do a subtraction to work out the change. When you buy things you have to use addition. We have been developing our skills in telling the time using half past and o’clock on digital and analogue clocks.  Most of us found putting the half past hands on correctly the hardest part.

Literacy

We have been learning to compare and contrast.  Compare is what is the same, and contrast is when you tell them apart (D.B) We have been using Venn diagrams, photographs, questioning and developing talking and listening skills by comparing and contrasting monsters.

We have been working on alliteration in our writing.  Can you spot some in our blog title?

Science

We have combined Science and Social Studies to learn about different types of wind.  There are four different types: typhoons, hurricanes, cyclones and tornadoes. You can usually see a tornado coming. Some of the types of wind are called different things in different places. We learned that these types of weather can be a catastrophe.

PE

In PE we were working on fitness in the classroom and balance and gross motor skills in the gym hall.  Our jumping and rolling skills are really improving. For our cool down, we played sleeping lions.  Ask to see our funny faces…
