Skills to School Week

We’ve had lots of interesting visitors to our classroom this week.  We learned about pensions, and that Heena’s mum’s job is to take other peoples’ money and look after it.  You have to use time and addition skills in her job. We also talked about chocolate buttons!

Andrew’s dad is an Air Traffic Controller so he looks after aeroplanes in the sky. He adds to 11 to keep the keep the planes at the correct time.

We learned about different types of bridges…. stone bridges, arch bridges and suspension bridges. We made paper bridges.  Did you know that if you fold paper like a fan it is strong enough to hold Lego bricks?

Mr Norman sets up big displays and makes films for customers.  He uses time and measurements to get the stage right and to make the films properly.

We took our learning outside this week too. Our huge cardboard box was……

a teleporter into the land of dinosaurs and to Sweetie Land

a den…

a sausage box….

a car…

and an aeroplane….

A group of children were digging in the trench for gold.  Then they decided to make a dam for the water to make the mud wetter.  The mud was higher than the water, so it stopped it.  They got very muddy!!
