Role and Responsibilities of the ASD Advisor

The main role of the ASD Advisor is to promote inclusive practice and build capacity within their establishment to meet the additional support needs of children with social communication needs.

ASD Advisors are expected to fulfil a number of key responsibilities, these include:

Consulting with and advising parents and staff on the additional support needs of children with identified language and communication needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder and Social Communication Disorder.

Supporting effective assessment and intervention practices within their establishment.

Delivering in-house training for staff on how to support children with social communication needs effectively.

Contributing to ASD Advisor Forums, and sharing and disseminating best practice within and from these meetings.
