UPDATE FROM DUNDEE UNIVERSITY

Please see information below from Dundee University:

For any students that currently hold an offer for the University of Dundee, we have a web page which we will be updating throughout this period which can be accessed at https://www.dundee.ac.uk/guides/covid-19-coronavirus-information-enquirers-applicants-and-agents. We understand that many students’ study plans could be affected by COVID-19, therefore we are putting in place a series of measures relating to our admissions processes. We have also been running online sessions for applicants which some of your pupils may have attended.

For any of your pupils who are interested in finding out more about the University of Dundee we are running a series of virtual campus visits every Thursday at Noon and have just started a callback initiative. This will give pupils the opportunity to request a call with a University of Dundee staff member to discuss their options for university study.

We’ll be exploring how to Choose a University, UCAS Applications, Student Finance, Taking an Apprenticeship and Life at University.

UPDATES FROM ABERDEEN UNIVERSITY FOR PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS

Are offering in lieu of attending school career/HE fairs, hosting on-campus visits or events such as Offer Holder Days, or other support and guidance to pupils.

Our virtual events webpage is updated regularly with new virtual events for any prospective students or current offer holders:

 https://www.abdn.ac.uk/study/virtual-events-meetings.php

This includes weekly Live Chats, every Wednesday afternoon at 2pm throughout April, and anyone can set up an account and come online. My team will be online during these sessions to answer any questions. Each week we will have a “guest” on the chat – for example, colleagues from the Accommodation and Go Abroad teams have previously joined us, and next week will include some current Student Ambassadors. We are planning to extend these Live Chats into May, with academics joining us for these sessions to provide subject area advice and guidance.

There is also the ability for any pupil, parent, or teacher to chat with our Student Ambassadors or Staff using the UniBuddy chat feature:

https://www.abdn.ac.uk/study/student-life/student-chat

You can filter who you wish to speak to and is ideal for any private questions you would rather not ask on Live Chat.

We are also preparing to offer some of our traditional on-campus events in a virtual way. In the near future, we are looking to host our Medicine Open Day (Saturday 13th June) on a virtual platform. We are still reviewing our Open Days for August and October; at the moment they are still on course to be on-campus events, but we will amend as necessary in line with Government advice.

We also have a COVID-19 FAQ page set up for all stakeholders of the University, including prospective students. You can find this information at/;

 https://www.abdn.ac.uk/staffnet/working-here/coronavirus/faqs-9773.php

Any of your pupils who are planning to come to Aberdeen in September will already be receiving regular communications from the University or will start getting them shortly. As we progress through the summer, they will also start to receive information from our Student Experience Team, who will begin preparing them for starting university. This will include information about induction, Welcome Week, etc… So please do reassure those students that they will receive ample information over the summer.
