East Renfrewshire Volunteer Programme

East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure Limited are looking to recruit an enthusiastic group of sports volunteers, aged 16 or over, to assist in the delivery of their sport and physical activity programmes including multi-sport coaching (daytime, after school, evenings or weekends) and school holiday activities.  Our next recruitment evening will be held as follows:

Summer Disco – 3 June 2016

Summer Disco

The Parent Council are planning to run a Summer Disco for the children on Friday 3 June 2016.

  • P1 to P3 – 6.30 pm – 7.45 pm
  • P4 to P7 – 8pm-9.30pm

Members of the Parent Council will be selling tickets (£3 which includes a drink and snack ) from 1st-3rd June in the gym/dining hall during the morning interval from 10.35 am to 10.50 am. Tickets will also be available on the night to buy at the door. Tickets are not available from the school office.

Afterschool Clubs – Term 4

More letters in school bags today for P1-3 Fitness and P4-7 Football and Multisport

Many of this term’s afterschool clubs are up and running with lots of  opportunities for pupils once again at Thornliebank Primary,  Woodfarm HIgh School and Giffnock Tennis Club thanks to staff, coaches and volunteers. We now have parent and community  volunteers helping with and running several clubs – should you wish to volunteer (we have great demand for a permanent football club)please contact Mrs McGarvey or Mrs Baxter.

Build a Sandwich Day – 23 March 2016

Tomorrow there will be no hot lunches available. Instead the children will be making their own sandwiches. They will be able to choose from a selection of breads, fillings and salads. There will also be a dessert selection and bite size shortbread & toffee crisp and Scottish fresh fruit platter. Also available will be assorted drinks.

DISCO – Tomorrow night

Spring Disco-Friday 18 March 2016.

The Parent Council have organised the next Disco for pupils on Friday 18 March 2016.

  • P1 to P3 – 6.30 pm – 7.45 pm
  • P4 to P7 – 7.45pm – 9.15pm

Members of the Parent Council will be selling tickets, which cost £3, in the gym/dining hall during the morning interval from 10.35 am to 10.50 am or tickets will be available to buy at the door of each disco.

Sports Relief Event – Wednesday 16th March

Pupils are asked to donate a minimum of £1 to raise a donation for the Worthy Cause of Sports Relief. Pupils are asked to bring in bright PE kits and a water bottle. They will be running laps in the playground to try and run as many miles as we can as a school.

Getting fitter while raising funds for charity.

Primary 7 will be marshalling the event whist encouraging the younger pupils.

Football Club

There is great demand for a football club in Thornliebank Primary.  Whilst we have run football coaching sessions we  need volunteers to sustain a weekly club throughout the session as teachers are running a variety of other clubs and activities.
