The school’s annual Christmas Fayre will take place on Saturday 1st December from 10.00am until 12 noon. An organising committee of parents and teachers are already working hard. If you are able to help please let us know using the letter which was sent home this week. Please look out for information regarding our Friday donations.

October Holiday
A reminder that the school will be closed
on Friday 12th October to pupils for an in-service day and
on Monday 15th – Friday 19th October for the October school holiday.
Pupils should return at 8.55am on Monday 22nd October.
Lunch
Menus showing hot lunch options for the coming term have been sent home this week. Sandwiches and Baguettes(deluxe) are also available every day.
Cashless Catering
Pupils can put money into their accounts using the machine in the dining room before school (from 8.45am) and after school (from 3.00pm).
Rainbow Day 20th September
Our Rainbow Day event raised £117.50 for school funds. Thanks to all staff and pupils who took part.
Harvest Collection
Our Harvest service will take place on Monday October 8th led by Primary 2.
We are asking all classes to contibute to a Harvest Collection – bring in some packets, jars or tins of food (please check sell/use by dates) the week before the service w/b October the 1st. These will be organised and distributed by our Primary 7 pupils to pensioners locally.
Parent’s Evenings
Parent’s Evenings will be taking place on Tuesday 2nd October and Thursday 4th October from 3.30pm until 6.30pm. A letter will be sent our shortly asking you to choose a preferred evening and/or time, please return these to school as soon as possible.
Morrisons Vouchers
We are once again collecting Morrison’s Lets Grow Vouchers. Pupils can post these into a post box located at our ECO Notice board in the Main Hall.
Administration Envelopes
The brown administration folder was given out last week. It contains several forms to be read, checked, amended and signed. All forms should be returned to the folder and sent into your child’s class teacher as soon as possible.
Food Day
Food Day in Thornliebank Primary will be Friday 7th September. Further information to be issued.
Karate Club
The Karate Club restarts on Friday 24th August at 3.00pm in the gym hall.
Please complete any permission forms before this date.
A New School Session
Welcome back to Thornliebank Primary for session 2012-13. We are all looking very smart in our school uniform and we are all getting to know our new teachers and stages.
P7 Graduation Service
Out P7 Graduation service will be on Monday 25th June at 11.00 am. All parents are welcome to join us in Thornliebank Parish Church.
Dean Castle Park School Trip
All nursery to Primary 6 pupils throughly enjoyed our school trip to Dean Castle Park. We had great weather and were able to explore the park with the help of the fantastic rangers. Our thanks to all the helpers who came along to help make it a success, we hope you can come along next year too!
Greenbank Garden Competition
The nursery won the Greenbank Garden Competition and the P4/5 gardening group came 3rd. This is the second time in 3 years Thornliebank have won this competition. Well done to all the pupils and staff involved.
Primary 1 Enterprise
Primary 1 are having a sale this Thursday 14th June. They hope to raise enough money to adopt an endangered animal at Edinburgh Zoo. Please bring in some money and support their sale. Well done Primary 1 who raised over £100 with their sale. They are now choosing which animal to adopt.
Primary 7 Trip
Primary 7 are off on their trip to M&Ds this Friday 15th June. We hope they have a great day.
Woodfarm Induction Days
Primary 7 are at Woodfarm for their induction days on Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th of June. Good Luck.
Potted Sports
Our sports took place this week on Tuesday. All nursery and primary pupils took part. Lots of our parents came along to support us.
Greenbank Garden Competition
The Nursery and the P4&5 Gardening Group are entering this competition. Please go along and vote at Greenbank Gardens this weekend 16th and 17th June.
Whole School Trip
Our trip To Dean Castle Park is on Tuesday 19th June. Remember consent forms and payment. £5 for 1 child, £4 each for families with 2 children and £10 for a family of 3. We hope the weather is fine on Tuesday.
