Weekly Prayers
Monday 12 November 2018.
As we begin this week we are reminded that November is the Month of the Holy Souls – those who in life loved God and others but because of some attachment to sin are not yet able to join him in Heaven. Through the mercy of God and our prayers we can help the Holy Souls ‘move’ from Purgatory to Heaven.
We pray for the Holy Souls who may be people whom we knew and continue to love.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. Amen.

Tragedy or testing times, dark days or dreary nights, God knows what we are facing. He is in touch with what is happening to us and He is concerned. When we feel loneliness, we must remember that we are not alone. God has promised to be with us over and over in the Old and New testaments. We need to learn to lean on his promises and receive His peace.
If you feel alone, say the little prayer
“Sweet heart of Jesus I place all my trust in you”.
St Paul wrote to the Romans : “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? ….I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, the present or the future…nor any powers nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord”
Put your trust in God being with you always. You are never alone.
We pray for our own intentions.
Glory be to the Father …………..
We pray for the Holy Souls.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. Amen.

In the Old Testament Isaiah says “Let us walk in the light of the Lord…..Whether you turn to the right or the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying “This is the way; walk in it”
We know that a brisk walk 3 times a week keeps your body fit, tones your muscles and strengthens your heart.
But walking with God helps us benefit spiritually so that we can know God better.
But how do we do that?
St John said “His command is that you walk in love….walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you.”
To walk in the light we need to keep the commandments. Hold fast to God’s word. And do this with all your heart and all your soul.
Pray that we will all walk in the light.
Our Father…………..
We pray for the Holy Souls.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. Amen.

Today the Church celebrates the memory of St. Albert the Great. Albert is named “Doctor Universalis” because of his vast knowledge and writings. His fame is due in part to the fact that he was the forerunner, the guide and master of St. Thomas Aquinas and for his comprehensive knowledge of and advocacy for the peaceful coexistence of science and religion. St Albert was one our churches greatest thinkers and learners and we pray in our school life we can aspire to learn and develop as he did.
Let us pray. O God, Who did richly adorn Saint Albert with Thy heavenly gifts and did decorate him with all virtues: grant us, Thy servants, that we may follow in his footsteps, may persevere in Thy service until death and securely obtain an everlasting reward. Through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Our Lord. R. Amen.
We pray for our own intentions and for the Holy Souls.
Hail Mary…
We pray for the Holy Souls.

Today is the Feast Day of St Margaret of Scotland. Margaret was an English princess. She and her mother sailed to Scotland to escape from the king who had conquered their homeland. King Malcolm of Scotland welcomed them, fell in love with the beautiful princess and they were married. King Malcolm and Queen Margaret led by example and helped to change Scotland for the better. Margaret worked hard to obtain good teachers and have new and beautiful churches built to allow others to share in the Glory of God. She is known for her work to bring education to the people of Scotland and for her great work for the poor.
In 1250 she was canonised by Pope Innocent IV and her remains were originally reinterred in a shrine at Dunfermline Abbey. We are all called to be saints in our own way. May we take St Margaret as our example of how to share God’s Glory.
Hail Mary…
