Solemnity of All Saints
“We celebrate today the solemnity of All Saints. This invites us to turn our gaze to the immense multitude of those who have already reached the blessed land, and points us on the path that will lead us to that destination.” Pope John Paul II, All Saints’ Day 2003
Next Thursday is Solemnity of All Saints and is a Holy Day of Obligation. On this day, the Church celebrates all the saints: those canonized, and the multitude of those in heaven enjoying the beatific visions, who are only known to God. During the early centuries the Saints venerated by the Church were all martyrs. Later on November 1st was set as the day for commemorating all the Saints.
As it is a Holy Day of Obligation, Mass will be celebrated with each year group and we are delighted to be supported by the priests from our local parishes.
