School Transport for High School August 2024 and How to Apply
To qualify for free school transport for Secondary school pupils you require to live 3 miles away or more from your catchment High School (the qualifying criteria is different in Primary School).
We check the distance by the shortest safe walking route.
If your child already uses school transport in Primary school you still need to reapply for a free school bus place when your child moves from primary to secondary school or if you move address.
Applications can be made NOW for Aug 2024 and no later than 4 weeks before the start of term to allow plenty of time to allocate spaces. The school bus service is organised on our behalf by Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT). Once granted a school bus place, SPT will contact you to confirm pick up points and times during the summer break.
Where a child does not qualify for free school transport it is the parents’ responsibility to make arrangements to get their child to school.
The launch of the under 22 bus travel scheme, provides alternative options for travelling to/from school as your child will be able to use any public bus service.
Details of this scheme and how to apply for the free bus pass can be found at the following link https://www.transport.gov.scot/concessionary-travel/young-persons-free-bus-travel-scheme
